Discussion Groups

Encounter History: Book Discussion Group
Do you have a passion for history?  Do you enjoy reading books on history? Do you want to read books on history but have a hard time deciding which ones to read?  Would you like to discuss your readings with other history buffs? Then this is the group for you.  Led by Norfolk resident and history teacher, Chris Cleverdon, this group meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the NPL Lounge. Will resume in the Fall.

Great Decisions:  A World Affairs Discussion Group
Are you concerned about  global issues such as the end-game  for the U.S. in Iraq? Trade with China? Energy & the U.S. economy?  Developed by the Foreign Policy Association, the Great Decisions Discussion Program is  designed to bring millions of Americans together in study groups to discuss, debate and learn about compelling issues of the day.  Prepare for the discussion by viewing a short video, read a few brief articles, then discuss and debate the issues that are of paramount importance. This group meets on the  2nd Thursday of the month 7:00 p.m. in the NPL Lounge and is  facilitated by Norfolk resident Cathy Elder.

All mothers are invited to join this monthly book and movie club.  Participants will read books and watch movies that open up the inner world of women from all walks of life. Together, the group will create a community, and a rich platform for discussion about  issues that are unique to women. Bring your curiosity, and a sense of fun and exploration. Popcorn provided!!  This year the group leader will be Kate Robinson. Kate has facilitated groups for over twelve years. She is a patient educator with University of Massachusetts Medical School, facilitator of a mother/daughter group and completed her Master’s degree through Lesley University where she studied adult learning and development. She is honored to continue the book and film group for mothers that Dr. Kumkum Malik founded at Norfolk Public Library.

This group  meets  on the 4th Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the NPL “School House”Room.  Please call 508-528-3380 x.2 to register.
