Make a Greeting Card

Thursday, July 11th @ 7pm

Learn how to make a greeting card for that special person in your life! Librarian & expert paper crafter, Kathy Astley will provide all the materials you need to make a very special greeting card. It could be for a child or adult -- birthday, anniversary, holiday or whatever occasion you'd like to show that special someone you care! A $5.00 materials fee is due at the start of class.

Zentangle  

Wednesday, July 17th @ 7pm 

Have you discovered Zentangle yet? Zentangle is a fun, relaxing, easy-to-learn drawing method which creates intricate designs through the use of repeating patterns.  It can also be used as a tool to help support relaxation,  stress reduction, concentration and confidence building. Using only pen, pencil and paper, Zentangle is portable and affordable and is a wonderful activity to enjoy wherever your summer travels take you.  JOIN US for a relaxing evening with Certified Zentangle Teacher & Norfolk resident, Sarah Del Mastro.

Jewelry Making—Bracelet 

Tues. July 23rd @ 7pm 

Join Karen Gallup for an introduction to jewelry making. In this class, participants will make a bead bracelet using a variety of beads and findings. After this workshop, participants will have the confidence to design their own bracelets. Please bring a pair of needle-nose pliers. A $5.00 materials fee is due at the workshop. Karen is a Norfolk resident who has been making her own jewelry for many years.

Bleach Pen T-Shirt

Mon. July 29 th @ 7pm

Using a bleach pen, participants will draw on a dark colored t-shirt to create unique designs! Participants must bring their own 100% cotton dark t-shirt to transform. Marissa Antosh is the instructor for this workshop. Marissa is the youth librarian at NPL and holds a degree in fine arts from Stonehill College.

Learn the Art of Papercutting

Tues.  August 6th  @ 7pm

Join expert paper cutter, Sue Throckmorton as she demonstrates the art of Polish papercutting, called wycinanki. Participants in this hands-on workshop will leave the class with a simple Polish design that can be used to make a note card which is also suitable for framing. There will be a charge of $5.00 for materials payable at the start of class. Participants must bring a sharp pair of small scissors.

Charm Square Notebook Cover—

 Thursday August 15th  @ 7pm

Learn to make a fabric notebook cover from quilters "charm squares" with Emily Ellen. Use it as a journal or send your child off to school with a very special composition book. Once you learn this technique it can be adapted to cover a variety of books or e-readers. Basic sewing skills are required, but you don't need to bring a sewing machine to class...we'll provide that for you! In fact, we'll supply everything you need to make this book cover. Cost is $7.00.  Emily is a circulation librarian at NPL as well as a fiber artist and quilt instructor.
