Effective October  2013

    The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for providing library service & assistance to patrons at the public service desk in the recently expanded and renovated Norfolk Public Library. This position requires the ability to understand and follow library policies and procedures and the ability to use the automated circulation system in a fast-paced environment.  Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Charging and discharging library materials; including reserves and renewals;
* Issuing borrowers cards;
* Assisting patrons of all ages in the use and location of library materials;
* Assisting patrons in the use of the on-line catalog;
* Shelving materials;

The ideal candidate must be able to relate to patrons of all ages; be familiar with current literature & have a working knowledge of PC’s in a Windows environment and Internet searching.

TIME:  6 – 10 hours per week including 1 evening. Additional hours required for Saturday and Sunday rotation.  

Starting Salary:  $14.69 per hour plus an additional $4.00/hr differential for Sundays.
No benefits.

REQUIREMENTS: A.A. degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred plus prior experience working in a library setting with SIRSI/Dynix software.
