Paws to Read (Registration required)
Second Thursday of every month (Oct. 8)
Children in grades 2-6 are invited to come and meet special therapy dogs once a month to practice their reading with a furry friend. Each child is given a specific 15-minute time slot for a "one on one" with their reading dog. Children must be able to read by themselves. This program is not for tutoring or becoming comfortable with dogs, rather, it is a chance for children to become more confident readers. Caregivers may remain in the building but are asked to remain outside the reading area. Sponsored by Therapy Dogs International. *Registration will open online two weeks prior to the program date. You will be notified of your time slot by email. October registration opens on Sept. 24, November registration opens Oct. 29
Art Adventures (Registration required)
Fourth Monday of each month (Oct. 26)
Join us for Art Adventures, an interactive visual arts program that focuses on a particular artist or style of art. The children will learn about the artist or style, and then have the opportunity to create a piece based on what they learned. Children do not need to have any special artistic ability, just a desire to learn and create! Sponsored by Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Program.
Registration coming soon!
Kids' Crafternoon (Registration required)
Third Thursday of every month (Sept. 17)
Get creative at the library! Each session we’ll make a different craft to take home. September’s project is pottery! Using air-dry clay, students will be able to create just about anything they like! This program will be messy so please dress accordingly. Please note this is now a registration program so we can obtain the right number of supplies. No meeting October 15.
Youth programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Norfolk Public Library
